Who We Are

Mission: To engage the community in the education of its students, supporting their growth and preparing them for productive citizenship.

Volunteers in Education (VinE) is a non-profit organization focusing on community involvement to support student academic growth. VinE has been an important presence in the public schools of Northeastern Minnesota since 2009, when it began the program. Students have been receiving academic support ever since!

What We Do

VinE provides community volunteer tutors to K-8 students needing academic support. Teachers refer these students for tutoring support, and the program pairs them with an appropriate tutor to match their unique needs. VinE is currently working in North Woods School (Cook, MN), NE Range School (Babbitt, MN), Tower-Soudan Elementary School (Tower, MN), Mt. Iron-Buhl Schools (Mt. Iron, MN), and Cherry School (Iron, MN). The program will expand in September 2023 to include the Rock Ridge Schools of Laurentian Elementary, Parkview Elementary, and North Star Elementary.

If you want to make a positive difference for students, please consider volunteering with VinE. Volunteer community tutors are the heart of this program. Sharing your time and talents with students needing extra support is a wonderful and fulfilling way to contribute to the community!
